Owners and values
Solano County Assessor/Recorder (Assessor Division). The free Real Estate Search with Mapping finds property by parcel number or street address and shows assessment information on an interactive map.

Solano County Treasurer-Tax Collector-County Clerk. Tax-defaulted property is sold through an online tax auction service, and the list of available parcels, rules, FAQs and excess proceeds information are posted on the Tax Sale page.
Foreclosure sales
Private trustees (notices recorded with the Recorder). Notices of default and notices of trustee sale are recorded with the Recorder and appear in the online Official Records index.
Parcel maps

How property is sold here
Solano County follows California's rules, with its own calendar and offices. Read the California guide for how the state works.
Tax sales
California sells the property itself, not tax liens, after taxes have gone unpaid for at least five years. The Solano County Treasurer-Tax Collector-County Clerk holds tax sales through an online auction service, generally in May or June; the 2026 reoffer sale ran June 17 to 18, 2026. Parcel lists and bidder registration are posted on the Tax Sale page, and buyers receive a tax deed that does not clear every other lien.
Foreclosure sales
Most Solano County foreclosures are private trustee sales under a deed of trust, not court sales. The notice of default and notice of trustee sale are recorded with the Recorder and can be found in the online Official Records index.
Assessed values
Under Proposition 13 the Solano County Assessor resets a property's value to market only when it sells or is newly built, and otherwise raises it by no more than 2% a year; the 2026/27 roll reached $80.6 billion, the fifteenth straight year of growth.
Transfer tax
Solano County charges the standard documentary transfer tax of $1.10 per $1,000 of value, paid when the deed is recorded.
Worth knowing
The online Official Records index does not show document images, so deeds must be ordered from the Recorder in Fairfield.
Worth knowing
About 1,300 assessment appeals from prior years, worth roughly $8.8 billion in value, were still pending in July 2026.

Vallejo is the county's largest city, but the county seat and the Assessor/Recorder are in Fairfield.
