Tax sales
Florida sells tax certificates (liens) first and the property later through tax deeds. The St. Lucie County Tax Collector opens its yearly online tax certificate sale for bidding in May and issues certificates on June 1 on every parcel still unpaid at 5:00 PM on the last business day before June 1; certificates that do not sell are struck to the county and can be bought online first come, first served at 18%. Two years after April 1 of the year a certificate was issued, the holder can apply for a tax deed, and the Clerk of the Circuit Court auctions the property online, with sales held about once a month (for example August 17 and September 14, 2026).
Foreclosure sales
Foreclosure sales in St. Lucie County are run by the Clerk of the Circuit Court as online auctions through RealForeclose, not by the sheriff. Sale dates are posted on the Clerk's Foreclosure Sales Calendar, and the certificate of title is recorded in Official Records after the sale.
