Platte County follows Missouri's rules, with its own calendar and offices. Read the Missouri guide for how the state works.
Tax sales
Missouri tax sales sell a certificate of purchase, which works like a lien: the owner can still redeem, and if not, the buyer can later apply for a Collector's Deed. The Platte County Collector holds the sale once a year in late August (Monday, August 24, 2026, at 10 a.m.), continuing day to day until every parcel is offered, and buyers must be present to bid. The list runs for three weeks in The Landmark newspaper ahead of the sale, and about 90 parcels were listed in 2026.
Foreclosure sales
Most Missouri mortgage foreclosures are trustee sales held outside court at the county courthouse in Platte City after notice in a local newspaper. Court-ordered sales are carried out by the Platte County Sheriff's Office.
Assessed values
The Platte County Assessor revalues real property every two years as Missouri law requires, and the next countywide reassessment takes effect in 2027.
Transfer tax
Missouri has no real estate transfer tax, and Kansas City and Platte County do not add one.
