Tax sales
Ohio counties mostly sell the property itself through tax foreclosure, and some also sell tax certificates (liens). In Lucas County, tax foreclosure sheriff sales have been held online at lucas.sheriffsaleauction.ohio.gov since March 12, 2026, usually on the second Thursday of each month at 10:00 AM, with a second sale two weeks later for unsold parcels; the opening bid is the delinquent taxes and costs, the deposit is 10% of the opening bid ($1,000 minimum, $5,000 maximum), and every bidder must file a notarized delinquent tax affidavit. The Treasurer also sells tax certificates in bulk, and in October 2026 it asked for proposals to buy a pool of 398 parcels as one block, with closing no earlier than December 2, 2026.
Foreclosure sales
Lucas County mortgage foreclosure sheriff sales are held online every Wednesday at 10:00 AM at lucas.sheriffsaleauction.ohio.gov, with bidding usually starting at two-thirds of the appraised value. The Sheriff says sale lists are published monthly on that site, and the deposit is 5% of the appraised value, from $1,000 to $5,000.
Assessed values
The Lucas County Auditor reappraises every property every six years with a value update at the three-year mark; the last full revaluation was 2024 and the last triennial update was 2021.

Lucas County charges a conveyance fee of $4.00 per $1,000 of the sale price plus a $0.50 transfer fee per parcel, paid to the Auditor, and the same rate applies in Toledo.
