Tax sales

Kansas sells the property itself, not tax liens. The Unified Government's Delinquent Real Estate department files a tax foreclosure case in District Court and then holds an online public auction twice a year, with the most recent sale on October 14, 2026. Homesteads become eligible after three years of unpaid taxes, commercial property after two and vacant or abandoned property after one, and the minimum bid covers the delinquent taxes but the buyer owes any current taxes past due.

Foreclosure sales

Sheriff sales of foreclosed mortgages are held every Tuesday at 10 a.m. in the basement breakroom of the Wyandotte County Courthouse, 710 N. 7th Street, with no registration and payment due by cashier's check by 2 p.m. the same day. Listings are posted by the lenders' law firms and in the Sheriff's current foreclosure listings, and owners may have a redemption period of 30 days to a year after the sale.

Assessed values

The Appraiser revalues all real estate every year to fair market value as of January 1, and notices of value are mailed in late February for homes and in March for commercial property.
